The team from the Sunday times travelled from Kent and reached the south of France before turning back and driving all the way home again. The journey was witnessed and so the VW now looks set to feature in the Guinness Book of world records. The miles per gallon amount was worked out to be close to 90 miles per gallon which is much better than the Volkswagen calculated 64.2 mpg.
