One of the better sources for new car designs in recent months has been the European Patent office and they have once again managed to spring a leak with the design drawings of what should be the new Mercedes Benz A class model. This follows on from the showcase of the Concept A concept car at the New York and Shanghai motor shows of which it shares many similarities. The leaked documents show a five door hatch but it is still thought that a sleek three door model will take pride of place due to the previous A class’s size in the range. LED eyebrows will be installed on the front headlights as with most cars these days and the front grille has been toned down to be based around a two bar grille. It looks in profile close to the 1 series and has a long bonnet and rear roof spoiler.Power will come from the C Class engines so comprise several 4 cylinder petrol and diesel units and also a new 2.0 litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine hitting up 204bhp. A 4 wheel drive AMG derived version is also in the offing which would result in 350bhp.
