New VW Golf MK7 for Non Prime Car Leasing Customers
The all new 2013 Volkswagen Golf is out and spy photos of the car has just surfaced, revealing the body and the shape of the long anticipated Ford Focus ST fighter and so for those interested in our Non Prime Car Leasing then why not explore your options now to see if you can pre agree the funding?
The MKVII Golf was spied doing test runs in Scandinavia. Although changes to its visual appearance will not be radical, do expect the car to be more powerful, more efficient as well as being better equipped but still being lighter than its predecessor.
Though the prototype spied may be clad in heavy disguise, yet details like the twin exhausts, bigger brakes, wider stance and the honeycomb grille tell us that this will not be just an ordinary Golf.
Underneath the body is a MQB Platform developed by VW group. The MQB uses hot-formed steels for weight reduction purposes but still keep the rigidity intact. The GTI will go the extra mile and will be equipped with an aluminum roof as well, further dropping its weight by around 100kg.
The Golf will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder petrol engine, with the codename EA888. It is capable of outputting up to 300bhp as you would see on the top of the line Golf R. However, the GTI will use a de-tuned version with a peak power output of 240bhp, similar to the current Golf GTI 35 Edition.
Although the power output may put the Golf behind the Ford Focus ST, Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR and the Renaultsport Megan 265, Volkswagen never planned to defeat other competitors’ cars in terms of horsepower. Instead of sheer power, Volkswagen is focusing on driveability with more low end power.
With the car now weighing less with more power, the car will be the fastest yet. Do expect the car to manage 0-62mph quicker than the predecessor’s 6.9 seconds – around 6 seconds is to be expected. Top speed is expected to increase from 149mph to around 155mph.
With a lower internal friction as well as overall weight, the engine will be a lot more efficient. Claimed fuel economy sits at 45mpg and emissions at 150g/km or CO2.
The Golf MKVII is expected for unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in October and the GTI hitting the showrooms in early 2013 for MSG Cars Non Prime Car Leasing customers.
