To celebrate its entry into the WRC, Volkswagen has come up with a new model made specially for the tuning festival organized by the VW Group, the Wothersee. The new car will roll out of showrooms before 2013 is over in very limited numbers only and will be available for Car Leasing For Bad Credit customers of MSG’s even if they have already been turned down elsewhere.
This model is none other than the Polo WRC Street, which is obviously named to commemorate VW’s foray into WRC 2013. Insiders have also confirmed that the Polo R WRC rally car will pave the way to the production of an all-out R version of the seemingly normal Polo road car. We’re not really sure what the “all-out” version will really be, but judging by the previous introductions of the R-line cars, we are not keeping our hopes high as that option turned out to be all name and no trousers with the R only applying to a slightly increased standard specification.
The car is powered by a twincharged 2.0-liter TSI engine, pumping out 217bhp. Yes, twincharged – turbocharged and supercharged – all this effort for only 9 more bhp as compared with the 280bhp Golf GTI. Nevertheless, it is still mighty impressive though more than likely it will add potential problems further down the line in regards servicing and maintenance.
A bodykit featuring a boot spoiler and a rear diffuser, coupled with an aggressively styled front end and bigger wheels differentiate the WRC Street from the standard Polo. There are also R-WRC badges inside and outside the car making this the boy racers dream and surely to grace plenty of magazine covers.
A prototype of the Polo R WRC car is also on display at the Worthersee tuning festival. The prototype is powered by a 1.6 TSI engine outputting an impressive 296bhp. The power and its lightweight propels the car to 62mph from standstill in only 4.1 seconds.
Also on display at the Worthersee are two special edition white and black Golf GTI cars. Finished with a rather unique “Oxywhite” matte paint, the Golf GTI White Concept receives red and black trimming with unique leather seats inside.
The Golf GTI Black Dynamic is powered by a tuned 335bhp 2.0-liter TSI engine equipped with lowered suspension. Pop the bootlid and you will find a 1800-watt audio system just incase the sounds of the engine isn’t impressive enough.
