Mercedes have announced the all new M Class SUV model that replaces the aging existing model that was face lifted only a year or so ago. The new range will feature a 4 cylinder diesel engine for the first time in an attempt to give the 4×4 more impressive fuel economy. The entry level ML250 Bluetec will have a twin turbo diesel motor that is 2.1 litres and can manage 201bhp with 369lb ft of torque. Expect 47mpg to be possible along with a brake energy recuperation set up. Other models confirmed by Mercedes include the ML350 with 254bhp from a 3.0 litre V6, the ML63 AMG with a 5.5 litre V8 536bhp twin turbo and even a hybrid model in the form of the ML300 using the 2.1 Litre engine in combination with an electric motor – combined efficiency of 54.3mpg.
