Several years ago, spy photos of the V12 Vantage Roadster were snapped doing test runs at the Nurburgring. People waited for the car’s debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but it did not turn up.
But now, it is learnt that the V12 Vantage Roadster will make its first public appearance – which we seriously hope is not just another tease. Rumour has it that only 101 cars will be built though, making the V12 Vantage Roadster as exclusive as the One-77.
It comes as no surprise that the new V12 Vantage Roadster, which as the name suggests, will be powered by the same engine as the coupe variant – a 6.0-liter V12 powerplant, outputting 510bhp and a pretty wild 420lbft of torque. The car will also come with a six-speed manual transmission as standard but we do not know yet if Aston Martin will also equip the V12 Vantage Roadster with a Touchtronic automatic gearbox.
Very few roadsters are known for handling especially with the construction of the car it loses its rigidity as well. To ensure that the car can travel at high speeds with a lot of stability, the Roadster is equipped with a rear deck lid is redesigned to look more like a spoiler (though a wing may do a better job), a redesigned front end and a tweaked suspension system.
The side strakes are accented with carbon fiber, and the same material is also used on the side mirror covers and tail light trim. The Roadster also comes with a fancy looking set of forged wheels.
It is also indicated that production will start later this year and the car will be priced at a steep 150,000 quid and with only 101 units being built, you better be fast.
