The new model was designed by Adrian Van Hoydoonk, with his typical approach. His approach is far less controversial than the previous design boss to help reduce drag he has enclosed as much of the chassis as possible by making the styling more slippery.

There is a new rear wheel drive platform that will underpin the next generation 1-series engineers have made the drive as fun as possible with extra comfort as well.

With the car being slightly longer and wider it’s expected that there will be more room inside with different materials to reduce the weight. The car as special features such as wireless Internet infra-red night vision and a system to stop the driver falling asleep, it also includes a radar based adaptive cruise control.

The car is thought to debut at the end of 2011, but a coupe, convertible is thought to make a debut in 2012.
