The Mini John Cooper Works GP, Mini’s fastest production car yet, has just been revealed at the Mini United festival held in France and will also be available for MSG Cars customers using our bad credit car lease offer.
The Mini John Cooper Works GP is a limited edition based on the second generation Mini. Though it may not be as new as the third generation which is still in the works, the hotted up Mini managed to record a time of 8 minutes and 23 seconds for a lap on the Nurburging Nordschleife during its development.
This lap time puts the Mini John Cooper Works GP 18 seconds ahead of Mini’s second fastest car, the Mini Cooper S equipped with JCW GP Kit. To show you how much quicker this new car is, know that the Lotus Exige S and Audi RS4 fall behind the Mini John Cooper Works by 2 seconds. This car is also just slightly slower than the Mercedes W203 C55 AMG and the BMW E46 M3.
The Mini John Cooper Works GP is expected to produce in excess of 220bhp complete with adjustable racing suspension and competition-spec brakes with six-pot calipers taking care of the stopping of the front wheels. The ECU has also been treated to some race tweaks.
With the base model not known for having a aerodynamic profile, the BMW-owned car maker knew they had to rework it. Thus the John Cooper Works GP comes with a redesigned nose to reduce drag together with sealed underside and a rear diffuser.
The exterior appearance is also made more aggressive with big front and rear aprons, side skirts and a rear roof spoiler.
The high performance tires that the Mini runs on have been specially tailored for the car – Kumho Ecsta V700 wrapping the 17” wheels (not very sure what the designers were thinking) as pictured here. The car will also be painted in Thunder Grey metallic colour, exclusive to this model only. Inside, the car is treated to Recaro seats with the rear seats ditched in favour of load-bearing brace which Mini produced during teh first batch of JCW models a few years ago.
