A new Jaguar model is coming and the crew is now busy getting the model ready to go head to head against the BMW 3-series. Perhaps one of Jaguar’s most important compact saloon yet, the new car, which is expected to be named the XS has been spied doing test runs for the very first time. The new baby Jaguar will be built to be a lightweight and compact rear-wheel driven saloon which will spawn many more body styles and thus increase the company’s market and revenue. If you would prefer to drive your new motor for several years and then replace it for a new model then why not consider bad credit car leasing? This still allows you to select your car yourself – even with poor credit showing! At the end of the contract you will be contacted about collection and providing you have made all the payments on time we can look to offer you a new deal – often on a better rate too.
While the new lineup will not compete directly against other more established luxury cars like the BMW 3-series and Audi A4, it will try to outplay the German rivals by offering lighter construction as well as high-tech, fuel-saving four-cylinder engines.
The XS will also be built on a new set of parts that can be scaled to be used in the upcoming XF and XJ models. This will also allow for 90% of the production to be built on one common set of components, as described by the global brand director, Adrian Hallmark.
Jaguar also has the intention to build all three models with the same Premium Lightweight Architecture, the same highly scalable platform that was used on the MK4 Range Rover. This will help with the company’s profit sustainability by allowing the Castle Bromwich plant to work in full force.
While a quick glance may suggest the new model that was spied testing is a XF, but if you looked closer, you’d begin to realize that there are some clues that tell you that it is indeed a smaller sedan. The width of the new prototype is narrower than the XF and the wheels are not even filling the wheel arches up nicely. The radiator also sits behind the nose quite a bit.
Hallmark, when about the position of the new models last year, commented that it is difficult to look for a market to penetrate into. He also said that no other car maker is waiting for a competitor to enter into a new market segment. For Jaguar to enter, they would need an unbeatable proposition.
He also commented that the new model would spawn a full range of body styles, as he says that all car manufacturers would need a successful strategy of different models which includes coupes, cabriolets and also estates.
